Who Do YOU Say that I Am?

There are MANY people who think that they are a “Christian” simply because they are a member of, or regularly attend church or other place of worship. Click this link to check out certain religions to see whether they are truly Christian…or not.

Being wrong has infinitely disastrous consequences: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven…” (Matthew 7:21)

Being safe in the Lord Jesus Christ has everything to do with KNOWING Jesus Christ. Every human being will, one day, be called before Jesus to give Him an answer this question: “Who do YOU say that I am?”

It is written that when Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ (the Messiah), the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven…” (Matthew 16:13-17)

Since the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ religious leaders, religious organizations, false teachers, and false doctrines have risen in the effort discredit, diminish, and / or corrupt the identity, the message, and the authority of Jesus Christ. And every doctrine that seeks to undermine the Deity, the bodily Resurrection, the Virgin Birth, the work of Redemption, and the name of Christ as the all exclusive Way of Salvation is not Christian. In fact, the Bible calls such doctrine “antichrist”.

2 John 1:7For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist…

1 John 2:18Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

So, who do YOU say Jesus is?

Followers of Islam believe Jesus existed. As do Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and other religious groups. But followers of Islam, for example, do not KNOW Jesus the Christ! The Muslim does not know Jesus, the Creator. Muslims do not know the Jesus crucified.

This is what is written in the Quran:

(Remember) when the angels said, “O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him (God), whose name is the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, revered in this world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (to God). He will speak to the people from his cradle and as a man, and he is of the righteous.” She said, “My Lord, how can I have a child when no mortal has touched me?” He said, “So (it will be). God creates what He wills. If He decrees a thing, He says to it only, ‘Be!’ and it is.” (Quran, 3:45-47)

According to Islam, God has said:

“…they said, “We killed the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of God.” They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but the likeness of him was put on another man (and they killed that man)… “ (Quran, 4:157)

The Muslim does not know the Jesus that Peter knew. The “Jesus” known by the Muslim is a “Jesus” who was born miraculously by the command of God, the same command that had brought Adam into being with neither a father nor a mother.

According to Islam, God has said:The case of Jesus with God is like the case of Adam. God created him from dust, and then He said to him, “Be!” and he came into being. (Quran, 3:59) And so the “Jesus” known by the Muslim did not die sinless, and was not buried and in three days did not rise from the dead, thus fulfilling the the promises of God concerning the salvation of sinful humanity.

The Jesus that Peter knew was the Jesus who pre-existed all creation, the Jesus who has been with God since “the beginning”, the Jesus who created all that was created. Peter believed that, “…if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God…” (1 Peter 1:17-21)

Religion that denies the claims that Jesus makes concerning Himself or deny the manifold eyewitness testimonies of His Disciples is the “religion of men”, many of which have the form of godliness, but deny its power (2 Timothy 3:5). In other words, there are many religions that promote “right-living” and “moral standards” (godliness) but deny the truths of God that have the power to save a sinner from eternal doom!

Who do YOU say Jesus is?

Judaism, Hinduism, Mormonism, Jehovah Witness, etc. make promises to humanity, promises kept IF a person lives a life “good enough” to be worthy of receiving the promise. All of these “religions” promote good and moral behavior!

But NONE offer the certainty of mercy, grace, forgiveness, and the atonement for the sins of humanity DEMANDED by the Creator, God and freely available in Jesus Christ.

As it is written, Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

SO…WHO DO YOU SAY JESUS IS? Your answer to His question means everything concerning whether you are a Christian…or Not!
